In a recent tweet, Certain Affinity, a studio that specializes in multiplayer components for shooters like Call of Duty, Halo, and DOOM, confirmed that 343 Industries had entrusted it “with further evolving Halo Infinite in some new and exciting ways.” If you follow the page linked to by the tweet (embedded below), you’ll see Certain Affinity’s careers page, which now has dozens of open positions. The tweet might just be the company’s attempt to recruit talent, but some players are convinced that it’s for a big battle royale mode for Halo Infinite....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mary Parent and Roy Lee are set to produce the live-action adaptation of Minecraft, with Napoleon Dynamite director, Jared Hess, set to helm the movie. Warner Bros. has been eyeing the Minecraft IP for years, with names like Shawn Levy and Rob McElhenney previously attached to the ambitious endeavor. It’s unclear if the renewed interest is related to the recent WarnerMedia merger but it wouldn’t surprise us if the new management helped further things along....

Blizzard recently announced that it will be shutting down its games in China after it was unable to strike a new deal with the current Chinese license holder, NetEase. The current license expires on January 23, 2023 after fourteen years of partnership between the two companies. With the expiration of its license, players from China will no longer have access to almost all of the Blizzard games available in the country....

While Warzone has been struggling with other issues as well, the poor reception of Vanguard definitely contributed to this slump. As the battle royale game has been integrated with each mainline release since its own launch in 2019, Vanguard left its mark on the game most notably with the introduction of the Caldera map, moving the action to an island in the pacific theatre of World War II. Warzone’s Vanguard-fueled woes struck almost immediately, as the map was both delayed and poorly received when it finally launched....
