Job listings, product ratings and some other official and bureaucratic documents are often dictated by forces more powerful than marketing scheduling, leading to situations like this one, with complete position descriptions giving the secret away.
Posted on Actvision’s corporate site along with other open positions, this job offer is for an Executive Producer on a project called “WZM” which is already very telling, since it’s obvious what the acronym stands for. If that isn’t enough though, details of the offer outright name Warzone Mobile as a thing that exists! As far as leaks go, this is the least subtle in a long time. That said, following the constant leaks around Black Ops - Cold War, maybe the company just doesn’t care anymore or sees it as a marketing ploy. On the one hand, this is exciting news for fans, meaning that soon we’ll be able to play even when on the move, carrying Warzone with us everywhere on our mobile devices. On the other, it bodes poorly for Call of Duty: Mobile, which also features a smaller scale battle royale mode. Having the two apps compete for essentially the same audience would be a poor business move, as having your own products fighting for popularity ultimately does more harm than good.
We wonder how much tweaking Warzone needs to be viable on mobile devices. A huge graphical downgrade is inevitable, but what we are really concerned about is the file size. Warzone is particularly notorious for storage creep, with season updates being dozens of gigabytes and the whole game being way, way above 100 GB already. Phones are vastly more limited in terms of storage space, on average, than consoles and PCs, so we are interest to see how this issue will be tackled.
