CD Projekt Red announced on its Twitter account that it’s working with @Fools_Theory to remake The Witcher with Unreal Engine 5. A fan then requested an update on The Witcher 3 for next-gen consoles to which the account responded “Soon ;)”.
— The Witcher (@witchergame) October 26, 2022 When it launches, the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 will be free for everyone who owns an earlier version of the game. The new version will feature better graphics and ray tracing, which will improve the experience of players. Also, CD Projekt Red will include a set of free DLC packs, inspired by Netflix’s adaptation of the fantasy series, with the new release. The Witcher 3 is a highly revered game by fans and critics alike with praise for its gameplay, visuals, and narrative, among other features. It’s widely considered by many as one of the best games of all time with 40 million copies sold. Given its appeal, CD Projekt Red announced it will release a next-gen version in Q4 2022. However, there has been virtually no update from the developer on the game’s progress, until now. The Witcher 3 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X was originally scheduled to be released in 2021. However, the game was delayed to a second-quarter 2022 release which also didn’t happen. Despite the fact that CD Project Red announced in early October that it still intends to release the game this year, the incessant delays have made fans skeptical of their announcements. But, following their response on Twitter, many fans of the franchise will be excited to learn their beloved game is progressing and will soon be released. Speaking of The Witcher 3, Season 3 of Netflix’s live-action adaptation will be released next summer. Before then, fans can look forward to watching the prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, in December.
