Unfortunately, save for Ghostwire: Tokyo, the PlayStation 5 has no such offerings, but it looks like this is changing soon. According to a Firesprite Games job listing spotted by users on ResetEra, Firesprite wants to hire a Narrative Director to work on a “AAA narrative driven horror-adventure game.” In addition, the said game will use Unreal Engine 5, hinting at incredibly immersive visuals that haven’t been explored yet in a horror game. Admittedly, Firesprite isn’t the most popular and proven studio, but it is backed by PlayStation Studios, suggesting that this will be a noteworthy title. Also, speaking of backing, now that Sony owns Firesprite, it’s all but guaranteed that the upcoming horror project is going to be exclusive to the PS5. Unfortunately, the job listing also hints at the game’s progress. Because Firesprite is still looking for a Narrative Director, the un-announced horror game is still very early in its development. Thus, PlayStation Studios could still pull the plug if it doesn’t like what it sees from Firesprite. For what it’s worth, there are a handful of other horror titles that are coming later this year. For example, Supermassive Games’ The Quarry is due for a June 10 release with a rumored Until Dawn remake also in the works. Horror fans can also look forward to the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X remasters of Resident Evil 7, 2, and 3. At the moment, Firesprite is confirmed to be helping out Guerilla Games on a PSVR2 game.
