Two marquee titles and one indie game are now headed to Sony’s cloud gaming subscription service. Namely, Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers and Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 3, as well as the 2017 survival game, The Long Dark.

PS Now April 2021 Lineup Emphasizes Quality Over Quantity

After giving away an average of four titles a month over the past few months, Sony decided to reduce the count to three for April. However, they made sure to make up for the lack of quantity with a lot of quality. The highlight of the month is Marvel’s Avengers. This is an action RPG brawler developed by Crystal Dynamics with Square Enix serving as the game’s publisher. It was released on August 20, 2020. Just as the name suggests, lets players take control of Marvel superheroes that are a part of the superhero team, Avengers. This includes a healthy mix of heavy hitters like Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man, as well as the Hulk, Black Widow, and Captain Marvel’s young protégé, Miss Marvel. Since its release, Crystal Dynamics has worked hard to provide updates and bug fixes for the game. The latest update brought Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye, into the roster as a playable character. The update also added a campaign replay feature and support for next-gen consoles that promises improved frame rates and visuals. The second game of the April 2021 PS Now lineup is Borderlands 3. The latest iteration in Gearbox’s venerated looter-shooter franchise is widely considered the series’ best outing yet. The game recently received a next-gen update that makes the game support up to 120fps and 4K resolution on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Making Borderlands 3 part of PlayStation Now is a great way to drum up excitement for the upcoming video game movie adaptation featuring Cate Blanchett and Haley Bennett. Last, but definitely not the least, is The Long Dark. This 2017 indie survival title tasks players to survive for as long as they can in the middle of freezing nowhere with only their wits. All PlayStation Now subscribers will be able to start playing all three of the above games starting on April 6. However, not all three games will leave the subscription service at the same time. Marvel’s Avengers will only be available until July 5 while Borderlands 3 will stay until September 29 with The Long Dark not expected to leave the service until much, much later.

What Are The Other Free Games on the PlayStation

In addition to their PlayStation Now lineup for April 2021, Sony also recently revealed their lineup of free titles for PlayStation Plus subscribers for April. The offerings include the 2019 first-party title, Days Gone, and Sniper Elite spin-off, Zombie Army 4. PlayStation Plus subscribers on the PlayStation 5 can also grab themselves a digital copy of Oddworld: Soulstorm at launch. Speaking of free games, Sony is currently giving away 10 titles as part of its Play at Home initiative.
