Cage broke the news to Screen Rant’s Caitlin Tyrell while promoting his upcoming western film The Old Way, saying: Spider-Man Noir is one of the Spider-people introduced in the first film alongside Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Gwen, an older Peter B. Parker, Spider-Ham, and Peni Parker (aka SP//dr). The multiverse Spider-team helps Miles Morales get a handle on his powers and ultimately defeat Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. Sony recently released the official trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and it featured a lot of new Spider-people. However, we only see Gwen Stacy and Peter B. Parker in it. Both will reprise their roles as Miles Morales’ love interest and mentor, respectively.  Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, and Peni Parker are noticeably absent in the new trailer. The trio of Spider-people was instrumental in the plot of the first movie and it would have been cool if they returned in the sequel. However, with Cage’s confirmation he isn’t returning as Spider-Man Noir, chances are slim for the others to return a swell.  One theory for the original members not returning is that The Spot caused the collapse of their Spider-Verse with his powers. The villain of the second and third Spider-Verse films is capable of traveling across the multiverse using his power over dark matter. Miles Morales may be trying to rescue them in the sequel but will come in conflict with the other Spider-people as it may place the entire Spider-Verse in jeopardy. There will be a lot of new Spider-people replacing the ones from the original movie. Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Woman, versions of Peter Parker and Miles Morales from the Insomniac Games, and a whole host of other variants will make their debut in the sequel. We’ll find out more about Across the Spider-Verse when it swings into theaters on June 2.
