The Star Wars presentation was stacked with new announcements, details, and trailers for its multiple upcoming projects. Andor, Tales of the Jedi, The Bad Batch, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew all had features and new information, but the audience reacted the most to The Mandalorian Season 3 teaser at the end of the presentation. What did the new trailer reveal to fans of The Mandalorian? Where does it go from the events of The Book of Boba Fett? Check out the details below.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, the two driving forces behind the current Star Wars projects on Disney+, introduced the debut of the trailer during 2022’s epic D23 Expo.

The new season of #TheMandalorian starts streaming in 2023 on @DisneyPlus. pic.twitter.com/2w6UcQYJKK — Disney D23 (@DisneyD23) September 10, 2022 Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) , Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan), Emily Swallow (The Armorer), and director Rick Famuyiwa joined in on the stage to hype up the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian. Although they did not appear on stage, the teaser trailer for Season 3 included appearances with Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Omid Abtahi (Dr. Pershing), and Ami Sedaris (Peli Motto). Interestingly, while the teaser is mostly comprised of new footage, there is very little that was revealed about the plot and direction of the third season. Only the dangling plot threads from the second season and the spinoff The Book of Boba Fett (2021) give a broad idea. It should be remembered that the end of season 2 of The Mandalorian had Din Djarin defeat Moff Gideon and claim the Darksaber. It also had Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) joining Jedi Grandmaster Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) to begin his Jedi training. Later, in The Book of Boba Fett, Djarin learns more about the history of the Darksaber and requests The Armorer to forge a Beskar armor for Grogu made from his spear. Meanwhile, Grogu’s training with Luke Skywalker leads him to remembering his escape from the Jedi Temple. He would later be given a choice of following the Jedi path or the Mandalorian way. By the end of The Book of Boba Fett, Djarin and Grogu are reunited after helping Boba Fett and Fennec Shand defeat the Syndicate. The two are last seen leaving Tatooine as they jump to lightspeed. Of the season 3 trailer, it seems a central plot point is Din Djarin attempting to regain favor with the other Mandalorians. Because of his choice to remove his helmet at the end of season 2 in saying goodbye to Grogu, their creed marks Djarin as no longer one of them. The voiceover refers to Djarin and Grogu as a clan of two. Beyond this plot point, the teaser reveals there will be scenes showing many Mandalorians in battle. The teaser ends with Djarin asking Grogu if heis ready for an adventure. Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon does not appear in the teaser, nor does Mark Hamill’s Jedi Master Skywalker. But given how much of a hit with fans Skywalker’s appearance at the end of season 2 was, it’s very likely something similar to it may be in the works. The Mandalorian Season 3 arrives on Disney+ on February 2023.
