Hot on the heels of Microsoft’s acquisition and a statement that it intends to bring Call of Duty to the Nintendo Switch, it appears that the FPS juggernaut is on the fast track to the hybrid console. According to @RalphsValve on Twitter, “Modern Warfare Remastered is supposedly coming to Nintendo Switch.” He adds that this will be the first game of the franchise to come to Nintendo’s latest platform.
— Ralph (@RalphsValve) March 24, 2022 Unfortunately, the insider did not confirm which studio will lead development on the Switch port of the Call of Duty game and when it’s going to arrive. However, since Activision Blizzard’s eventual owners already expressed their interest, it’s probably only a matter of time before the hit FPS is playable on the Switch. We can add the report to the growing list of evidence that the port is coming. Elsewhere, the same source claims that Activision intends to fill the unconfirmed gap in its annual schedule by releasing newly remastered experiences. It’s worth noting that there’ve been several reports that Activision will not release a new Call of Duty game by 2024. Even though Infinity Ward has confirmed that it is working on a new Call of Duty game for this year and Warzone 2 for next year, anything beyond both titles save for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is not guaranteed. With 18 standalone titles to pick from, Activision Blizzard has no shortage of source material to remaster either, similar to what it did to 2016’s re-release of the original Modern Warfare.
